These posts are a nice reminder that I’m not ALL Korean Pop (at least, not 24/7). I’m doing my little observations of the Korean pop music industry and I’m working on fusing what I hear there and what I adore over on my side of town to really see if I can find a nice bridge between both worlds.
I had told myself to start posting these again a couple days ago and since I have some spare time right now, here is another ‘Other Music I Enjoy‘ blog – which (for those of you new here) are blog posts sampling what I listen to that doesn’t start with a K and end in a pop…
This young lady is named Ximena SariƱana, and she fills me with joy with her quirky twist on blues. She has an incredible voice that fits the genre she sings like a freaking glove on a hand.
Here are two of her hit songs, used in everything from a telenovela to countless commercials in Mexico. I’ve gotten into Mexican music here and I should really get back into it again, since the following ‘Other Music I Enjoy’ features one of my FAVORITE GROUPS EVER AND JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE MEXICAN WOOT WOOT!
Enjoy ‘Mediocre’ (by the way, these channels wont let me embed these videos for some reason. Lame, but do watch them on YouTube cuz they’re good. Promise.)
And ‘Vidas Paralelas’

OMG I love this girl! I looked her up after she did that duet with Jason Mraz, and discovered that awesome cover of “Volare” she did. I’ve been meaning to get her album… onto the iTunes wishlist it goes!
I love her, too! I bought her debut album when it was released back in 2008 and almost had the chance to see her live when I was in Mexico!
She’s also an actress, I hear. :D
