BoA kind of fell off her rocker this year. First thing first, she donned that disastrous dye-job, one she obviously couldn’t care less to get re-done.
But what really matters is the music, right, and unfortunately, she failed to accomplish anything outstanding on those grounds, either. It wasn’t necessarily a hot mess, but just excruciatingly bland.
And I don’t hate the woman. She’s proved she has the chops, pipes and skillz to slay all them hoes in Kpop right now. There was a lot of hype for her return and even I was caught up expecting something explosive, but alas, 2010 was just not her year.
The year’s not even over. With her latest release, titled ‘Copy & Paste‘, it is still a definite miss for her. Listening to this song by itself and not comparing it to her previous work, it doesn’t stand on its own as a good pop song. The instrumental doesn’t really go any where, and it kind of reminds me of Narsha’s ‘Bbi Ri Bba Bba’. The only difference is Narsha formed melodies that actually worked with this simple beat and the treatment on her voice added that extra whimsy. BoA on the other hand fails to do anything remotely close to interesting with the verses and chorus in ‘Copy & Paste’. And it goes on and on and on…
There’s no magic in ‘Copy & Paste’. And there aren’t any good moments in it either, making it a perfect candidate to be one of those ::SKIP:: tracks. That is, if it even ends up making it on your music library.
If I had to (HAD to) chose something I enjoyed in this song, it would have to be the sassy talking at the very beginning. Clt + C and Clt + V
I’ll definitely listen to her older material from time to time, but I can’t bring myself to listen to this particular song more than I already have. I want to like BoA right now, but girl, get your hair did n’ then we’ll talk.
Thoughts?
Apparently she’s said in interviews that she wants to be more “feminine” in her future works (like this). If that’s what she’s going to continue to do, then she might as well be dead to me. I loved BoA the tom-boy.
If being more feminine means making boring music, then Imma have to ask her to loosen those jeans, ruffle that hair and reconsider her tom-boy attitude.
K, BoA? Thanks.
This doesn’t come off as feminine to me, to be honest. Oh well, I’m going to go listen to ‘No.1′ now, which was feminine AND bad ass.
Her expiration date is around the corner.
Ugh her korean comeback was just a FAIL, but I think you should listen to 한별 (Implode) from her Hurricane Venus album, that one song is the only reason i even bothered to listen to Copy & Paste.
