[Full MV] SPICA Releases Odd “I’ll Be There” Music Video

Pardon my lateness, but I wasn’t aware that SPICA was making a comeback. Then again, I haven’t been as actively following Korean pop headlines as I am used to, but hey, It’s SPICA: BRING IT.

Commentary:

I like the smoother bits of this song, but I’m not as jazzed by the shout-y sections. The chorus is lovely, much like the rest of the song, but I have a problem with the core foundation of this single: it’s walking that very fine line of being a complete Spice Girls/Janet Jackson/[insert popular 90s diva/group] rip off. Like, it’s one thing to be inspired, and another to copy. I would rather not speak the latter, as I really like this group :\

As for the video, I don’t know, man. Like, what the hell is going on? There’s a cow-DJ, a random intro, an odd color palette … it’s so ODD, that I can’t enjoy it properly.

Am I alone in this?

It’s very 90s. It’s one of those songs that you’re pretty sure they heavily took from another song, but you don’t know from whom Anyways, I think people will like it. I still love Spica.
