With tiresome waves of flashy videos drowning us every day, “All the Same” by k-indie group URBAN ZAKAPA, is a magnificent rest for the mind and the eyes.
This MV is probably the closest thing to an independent production from Korea in recent memory as we know them in the west. But what really makes it stand out comes from the hand of the editor – there’s certainly a major style distinctiveness in the editing of the scenes but, quite frankly, describing it becomes futile when the results speak for themselves.
Furthermore, while most videos running the same road style like this one seem to be mocking of our lack of cleverness to comprehend their meaning, “All the Same” fills our senses with visual delights. There’s no pretense, just plain beauty. And the last scenes, turning into nightmarish visions, leave this query:
maybe there is an actual story behind them, but there’s no way we can know.
And that’s the magic of it.
